Christmas Child Shoeboxes 2017

What goes in a shoebox?
Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, stuff animals, balls(ie: basketball, soccer), with manual air pump to pump up ball), foam ball, dolls, stuff animal, an outfit of clothing to wear, small musical instrument (such as a harmonica), wooden flute. Skipping rope/Jump rope. Slinky, Etch A Sketch, Interactive toys that include push buttons, lights, noise (include extra batteries)
School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books. Pencil case, marker pens, coloring pads, coloring books, picture book, glue stick (Do not include liquid glue), small adhesive tape, watercolor set
Non-liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, brushes, washcloths, adhesive bandages(Colorful ones can help a child be more willing to wear a bandage. Do not include liquid antibiotic ointment.) small packages of Kleenex, Zippered case to place toothbrush, comb, washcloth, soap with soap case
Accessories: Reusable plastic containers: cup, water bottle, plate, bowl, blunt-edged utensils. Consider filling an empty container with non-liquid items such as hair bows, bracelets, sunglasses, or washcloths to maximize the space. Camo--printed shirts, socks, pants, hat (only if they are colored (ie: blue, pink as military colors are not allowed) Blanket, T-shirts, socks, hats, scarf/mittens, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries),
Crafts: Make your own items such as hair bows, finger puppets, throw cover, tote sack with drawstring made from pillowcase, and friendship bracelets and necklaces.
Play dough (consider adding plastic cookie cutters as non-sharp utensils the child can use with the play dough.) Stickers with sticker book.
Do Not Include:
Candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.
Candy specifications: Starting in 2017, no type of candy can be included in shoebox gifts.
Toothpaste specifications: Starting in 2017, toothpaste cannot be included in shoebox gifts, but a child’s oral hygiene can still be improved by regular use of a toothbrush alone.
